About Us

Troop 1011 is chartered by the Mt. Bethel Methodist Church and was begun in May 1972.  We are currently celebrating our 40th year of Scouting.  The troop has approximately 120 active Scouts and has produced almost 250 Eagle Scouts.  For 33 consecutive years, Troop 1011 has received both the National Quality Unit Award and the National Camping Award and has also been on the District Honor Roll.
In 2012, our Scouts and adult leaders performed many hours of community service including Eagle projects throughout the community, work during the Great Day of Service, and serving as counselors at Camp Hope. Our Scouting for Food drive collected over 1,000 items and we were involved in numerous Flag ceremonies. Troop 1011 had camp outs, backpacking hikes, 2  summer camps, merit badge clinics, 4 Courts of Honor, and 10 Eagle Scout Awards. Our Scouts earned merit badges in many different categories and there were many rank advancements. Several scouts reached the 100 camping nights milestone, were inducted into the Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scouts attended the Georgia Boy's State program. Our high adventure trip was to Northern Tier.

We believe that Scouting gives young men an opportunity to build skills and confidence while establishing and reinforcing strong character and values.
