History
Troop 1011 is chartered by the Mt. Bethel Methodist Church and was begun in May 1972. We are currently celebrating our 45th year of Scouting. The troop has approximately 90 active Scouts and has produced almost 300 Eagle Scouts. For 38 consecutive years, Troop 1011 has received both the National Quality Unit Award and the National Camping Award and has also been on the District Honor Roll.
Our Scouts and adult leaders perform many hours of community service including Eagle projects throughout the community, work during the Great Day of Service, and serving as counselors at Camp Hope. Our Scouting for Food drive collects over 1,000 items and we are involved in numerous Flag ceremonies. This past year, Troop 1011 had campouts, summer camp, merit badge clinics, Courts of Honor, and several Eagle Scout Awards. Our Scouts earned merit badges in many different categories, and there were many rank advancements. Two Eagle Scouts attended the Georgia Boy's State program. Our high adventure trip was to Sea Base.
We believe that Scouting gives young men an opportunity to build skills and confidence while establishing and reinforcing strong character and values.
